Offbeat Tamil Wedding

As destination wedding photographers we are always excited about travelling.  This time we travelled to Chennai to shoot an offbeat Tamil wedding.  When Abhi, the groom contacted us, there was a very friendly vibe in his message. Needless to say we developed an instant fondness for him.

As wedding photographers we feel it is very important to get to know your soon to be married couple. We do it to understand the couple's expectation from their wedding photographers. After exchanging a few e-mail we realised this is going to be an unconventional, a very modern Indian wedding.  Abhi's beautiful home in T Nagar was the wedding destination.  The place was beaming with quirky, colourful decor, smiling faces of friends, cousins, uncles and aunts and the widest smile was of Sakthi's.

Sakthi is a doctor by profession and a bundle of cuteness.  The most incredible part of this unconventional wedding was that Abhi and Sakthi got priestesses to perform the wedding rituals.   This was our 4th such wedding where the wedding ritual was performed by a priestess, our first such wedding being in Samode Palace .  Abhi very proudly said that their wedding has all the women power that he needed starting from the planner, the decorator to the priest and a lady wedding photographer.  Their pre-wedding shoot happened as a post-wedding couple shoot at their private beach on the ECR road. The grand reception and the youngsters party happened at the ITC Grand Chola

Abhi and Sakthi paid a lot of attention to detail. Their fine taste in all things big and small was evident from the people and venues that they chose for their big day.  Both of them love finer things in life. Abhi got customised, limited edition Chopard watch and gold cuff-links with their initials for the wedding.  As people they are very grounded and one of the sweetest couples we have ever met. They will always hold a special place in our hearts.  Here are some of the photos from their intimate wedding in Chennai.
